Health Guide (pdf)

This guide is intended to help early childhood providers plan fun and educational activities in their center, day care home or preschool. In the guide, we have indexed educational materials, books, lessons, and activities appropriate for 0 to 5 year old children. This guide covers the areas of safety, the human body, handwashing and hygiene, toothbrushing, nutrition and eating healthy, and sun safety. Child care teachers can use these resources to reinforce basic life skills that will ensure a healthy start for babies, toddlers and preschoolers in their care. Parents, of course, are also welcome to take advantage of these ideas and resources, especially parents who home teach. Providers may want to share the lessons with parents so that the material can be reinforced at home.
